Thanks to raising his shoulder at the last second, Harley Race defeated Ric "Nature Boy" Flair to become the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Heavyweight Champion for a record seventh time.

Harley Race appeared on television and congratulated himself on his record seventh title win.

In subsequent rematches, Flair came closer and closer to regaining the belt from Race.

Flair's relentless pursuit of Race's belt drove the champion over the edge leading Race to offer $25,000 to the wrestler who eliminated Flair from wrestling.

During a match with Race, Flair had things going his way when Dick Slater tried to interfere.  Flair took care of Slater and went back on the attack.

Things are looking good for Flair until his so-called friend "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. shows up and dives off the top rope at Flair.

Orton picks up Flair for a piledriver as Slater gets ready to spike Flair into the mat...

After the piledriver, Orton delivers a neckbreaker to Flair for good measure.

NWA Champion Harley Race watches on with delight as Flair writhes around the mat in pain.

Flair's true friends "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Wahoo McDaniel look on with concern as medics tend to the fallen Flair.

In the heel dressing room, Race (left) delivers the cash to Slater (middle) and Orton (right) for a job well done.  MACW heel Paul Jones (far right) looks on.

Not long after the attack, Ric Flair appears on MACW television to announce his retirement from professional wrestling.

Dick Slater and Bob Orton are no doubt surprised when Flair shows up during one of their matches on MACW television.

Brandishing a baseball bat, Flair does his best to hit a homerun with Slater's head.

Flair chases Slater and Orton all over the television studio.

It soon becomes clear that Orton and Slater have scurried to safety.

Flair rips off the neckbrace and cuts one of the hottest promos of his career, vowing revenge on Slater and Orton for trying to take him out of professional wrestling...

Orton and Slater had best beware of Flair's new tag partner (an aluminum baseball bat).  As for the man who paid them to injure him, Flair promises revenge on Harley Race in the form of taking away Race's NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
