After retaining his NWA Heavyweight
Championship against challenger Nikita Koloff, Ric Flair found
himself being double-teamed by the Russians.
Fortunately "The American Dream" Dusty
Rhodes was on hand to lend a helping hand. Rhodes and Flair were not
friends but Dusty had no love for the Russians either.
Dusty watches as Ivan and Nikita Koloff
make a quick retreat.
Arn and Ole Anderson rush in, attacking
Rhodes. Rhodes has had his share of battles with the
Andersons.
Ole and Arn are also Ric Flair's
cousins. The fans at ringside wonder which side Flair will
take..
It looks like "The Nature Boy" isn't
going to take sides.
What's this? Flair is locking the
cage door!
Flair shows his gratitude by attacking
Stardust.
After pummelling Rhodes, Flair has the
Andersons hold Dusty's leg so he can try and break it. Flair
jumps off the rope and breaks Rhodes' ankle.
By now, Rhodes' friends have emptied out
of the dressing room in an effort to save him. First though,
they have to get into the cage. Easier said than
done.
Rhodes' friends try to climb the cage but
Ole and Arn are quick to knock them off.
An enraged Magnum T.A. tries to rip the
cage door off its hinges.
Finally, help begins to trickle
in.
The Andersons and Flair find themselves
fighting their way out of the cage.
Magnum T.A. & the Rock-n-Roll Express
rush to their friend's side.
Television announcer David Crockett (and
brother of promoter Jim Crockett checks on Rhodes'
condition).
Ricky Morton does his best to comfort
Rhodes.
Due to the severity of Rhodes' injury,
the cage has to be dismantled in order to transport Rhodes to the
hospital.
