The 1996 King of the Ring Tournament Finals:
Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin |
Unfortunately for Roberts he goes into the
final round at a serious disadvantage thanks to his 3rd round
opponent Vader... |
Vader lost the semifinal match to Roberts by
disqualification. Angered at his loss, Vader decided to
make Roberts' prospect for victory unlikely by injuring
Robert's ribs with his "Vader Bomb" manuveur. |

His ribs heavily taped up, Roberts slowly made
his way into the ring. Austin wasted no time in
attacking Roberts. |
Austin attacks Roberts, well aware of his
foe's injury along with the fact that Roberts the last person
in his path to winning the King of the Ring. |
Austin begins to unravel the protective tape
around Roberts' ribs. |

WWF President Gorilla Monsoon enters the ring
after watching Austin's savage attack on
Roberts. |
Thus far Roberts hasn't been able to get any
offense in and Monsoon is seriously concerned about Jake's
ability to continue. |
The veteran Roberts has been in tough spots
before and he makes it clear that he is going to finish the
match. |

The brief respite caused by Monsoon's
interruption gives Roberts time to get his bearings and he
unloads on Austin. |
Roberts signals the fans that he's getting
ready to deliver his famed finishing move; the
DDT. |
Unfortunately Roberts' injured ribs slow him
down enough for Austin to avoid the DDT and counter with his
own attack. Austin attacks Roberts' ribs once
again. |

Austin tells the referees to get Roberts out
